Our goal, at Girl Scouts of North East Ohio - South Region, is to give every girl the opportunity to become a Girl Scout.  From age 5 to age 17, or Kindergarten through grade 12, Girl Scout program meets the needs and interests of girls at their developmental level. In Girl Scouting, girls and adult volunteers work together in an ongoing informal educational program. Girl Scouting helps girls develop into creative, responsible individuals by discovering and sharing activities that meet their needs and interests.

The Girl Scout Movement is open to all girls and adults who accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law.  Annual dues for Girl Scout membership are $10.00.  The annual dues go to Girl Scouts of the USA.

Daisy Girl Scouts - Kindergarten (age 5)
Brownie Girl Scouts - 1st - 3rd Grades
Junior Girl Scouts - 4th - 6th Grades
Cadette Girl Scouts - 7th - 9th Grades
Senior Girl Scouts - 10th - 12th Grades

Girls may become members:

  • In traditional troops, with volunteer leaders, that meet throughout the year
  • In special interest groups that meet for a specific length of time to explore a topic
  • As individuals, called "Juliettes," doing Girl Scout award requirements on their own, and signing up for available program activities that are of interest to them
  • Through "In-School" programs which are specially arranged through Girl Scout Membership staff and individual schools

Adult volunteers are always needed -- and very welcome!
In a wide variety of positions, in short-term and long-term commitments, volunteers are a vital part of Girl Scouting.  Some of the positions volunteers hold include:

  • troop leaders and assistant leaders
  • product sale coordinators
  • members of the council's Board of Directors
  • presenters for adult volunteer workshops and training courses
  • troop committee members who help leaders and assistant leaders with managing troop activities and transporting girls
  • fund development specialists who may work on special events to raise funds for the council
  • AND many more!
