Welcome!
Are you and your daughter New to Girl Scouting?
Are you interested/just registered as a Leader?

Here are some answers to a few FAQ's...

I've registered to be a Girl Scout Leader, now what do I do?
If you have not been contacted for orientation please call South Region Service Center 330-433-9485, Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM. You will need to provide your daughters school so you may be directed to the Membership Development Specialist who will schedule your orientation.  Also, the South Region Service Center has a store where you can purchase your Leader Guide and Age Level handbooks. Troop Leadership, age appropriate program activities and awards are listed in the books.

As a parent how can I help?
Have a meeting with the leader and all parents to meet each other, complete the registration process if needed, pay dues, and -the BIGGIE for a SUCCESSFUL Troop- sign up for a job!  Leaders cannot do this alone - they need your help.  When everyone does "something", then the pieces are small and it makes for a smooth and successful year of Girl Scouting for the girls.  Plus, girls love that their parents are involved.

Ideas on How to be a Parent Troop Helper:
Carpool Driver - drives a group of girls to/from meetings or programs/events. If you register as an adult volunteer you will be under the Girl Scout car insurance for Girl Scout activities.
Cheapest policy ever! Never transport a girl unless you have a permission slip from her parents.

Girl Scout Parent Promise:

On my honor, I will try,
To encourage and support my
   Girl Scout Daughter,
To help her troop at all times,
To obey the Girl Scout Parent Law.

Girl Scout Parent's Law:
1. A Girl Scout Parent understands the
    true purpose of Girl Scouting.
2. A Girl Scout Parent gets their daughter
to and from meetings on time.
3. A Girl Scout Parent knows a troop is
    a team effort.
4. A Girl Scout Parent sees the job
    through to the end.
5. A Girl Scout Parent sets a good
    example at all times.
6. A Girl Scout Parent is enthusiastic
    and cheerful.
7. A Girl Scout Parent does not consider
    the leader a baby sitter.
8. A Girl Scout Parent brings troop
   problems to the leader first.
9. A Girl Scout Parent always does his
    or her part willingly.
10. A Girl Scout Parent is aware that
Girl Scouting is for all girls.

Carpool Organizer - sets up the carpool and gives everyone a copy of the set-up. also handles carpool emergencies i.e. if someone can't drive they call HER and she locates a replacement.

Fall Product OR Cookie Mom(s) or Dad(s) - goes to the meetings and gets the girls and parents set up.  This parent must be a registered adult girl scout. Yes, Dads can register.

Troop First Aider: the troop first aider must accompany the troop to any activity that meets outside your registered meeting place. Nurses, Nurse Practioner, Paramedic, Military Medic, EMT's, Physician Assistant and Doctors do not need additional training to be the troop first aider. Council offers training

Summer Fun Day Moms: Summer Fun Days is program offered throughout the summer in day or evening session.  Troop's needs parents to help at least one day out of five. If you love the outdoors but not sleeping on the ground this one is for you!!!

Troop Registrar: Updates Girl records yearly and distributes and collects all registration forms, fees and yearly health forms.

Troop Photographer: Too often a leader is so busy with the girls she does not have a chance to take pictures. Be your daughter's Troop "official photographer" and album keeper.
