Recycle Ohio!         Year-Round Opportunities

YEAR-ROUND Opportunities

For Jr./Cad./Sr Troop: The Safe Haven Exchange sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church (415 Tuscarawas St. SW, Canton) is a program for divorced families and their children.  They need assistance cleaning the toys and furniture once or periodically.  Contact: Cindy at 330.896.4813.

Sing-A-Longs
Elaine, Service Coordinator for Village Towers would like to work with Girl Scout troops trying to find service projects for the community. They would like troops to hold a sing-a-long or just sing to their residents. For more information, contact Elaine at 330.493.9726.

Tech Tutors needed
Are you or your girls computer savvy?  Are they looking for a great community service idea.   Perhaps they could use their skills to help senior citizens learn how to use the computer.  For more information, download the flyer from the Mayfield Senior Center.

Love the Children
Founded in 2004 by then 18 year old Malone College student Heather Conley of Canton.  This program works with Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority, Stark County Social Workers Network, Head Start, the J.R. Coleman center as well as other various organizations to get the names of the children.  They need help wrapping and passing out gifts!  They bring gifts to about 250 children and need all the assistance they can find to wrap - wrap - wrap!  For dates and all other questions, please call Miss Conley at Crystal Park United Methodist Church at 330/455-7734.

Canton Calvary Mission needs volunteer to help serve meals on Saturday from 4 - 8pm, collecting items for distribution, or Senior High Girl Scouts to tutor elementary students.  Please call Marie at 330/454-8610 or send an e-mail to Calvarymission@ameritech.net for more information and schedule a time to volunteer.

World Thinking Day Activities - visit WAGGGS
This is a great time to celebrate the impact Girl Scouting has made and continues to make in our communities!
Here are some great ideas:

• Volunteer to lead a flag ceremony at a school board, city council meeting in March,
• Do a special community service project,
• Visit a Nursing Center throw a party,
• Volunteer to participate in worship services for Sunday or GS Sabbath
